
Scholarship Guidelines
The Kappa Youth & Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications. This scholarship is open to all graduating male students in a Montgomery County School with the ambition of attending college after high school. If this is you, or you know someone who is, please encourage the student to complete an application for a chance of being selected as a 2023 Kappa Youth & Community Foundation scholarship winner.
Applicant
- Must be a high school graduating senior or GED recipient and has been accepted to college as a full-time student and will be enrolled for the next semester.
- Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
- Should be active in extra-curricular activities or work-related activities.
- Must be an African-American male student of color living in Montgomery County.
Application Procedures
- The essay will be evaluated on appearance, spelling, and grammar.
- Your counselor must upload an official transcript that includes grades 9-12. You will need to provide the counselor's name and email on the application, so be sure to have that information available before you start the application.
- Applicant must upload proof of acceptance to the college he will attend.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation are required; one (1) from a school representative and one (1) from a non-school representative. You will have to enter the names and email addresses of the two people you want to use as references on your electronic application. Be sure you know the people you want to complete your electronic recommendation and have their names and email address before you begin the application.
A completed application consists of:
- A completed electronic application
- The college acceptance letter.
- The transcript.
- The essay.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A current photo
Application Deadline
All material must be submitted online before 11:59 pm on April 21, 2023.
- All information on the application form is considered confidential.
- All submitted material becomes the property of the Kappa Youth and Community Foundation.

Notice to Applicant
Applications submitted without the requested information, including signature, recommendations, and official transcript, will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered.
